Martyrdom of John Hooper (c.1495-1555), 16th-century artwork. Hooper, an Anglican bishop (Gloucester and Worcester) and Protestant reformer, was convicted of heresy during the Marian persecutions (Mary I). Imprisoned in 1553, he was burnt at the stake in Gloucester on 9 February 1555. Artwork from 'Cosmographie universelle' (1575) by the French explorer and writer Andre Thevet (1516-1590). This book described the history and geography of the lands in which Thevet had travelled. The two volumes and four tomes contain over 1000 pages divided into 23 books. This woodcut is from chapter IIII of book XVI.

This design was edited by our drummer, Adam Thompson. It was printed by Well Worn Clothing in Covington, Ohio.
